Summary:
The expectation for this position is to lead and direct a team of hourly employees in the collection of biological sample data from chickens at Cobb pedigree farms to achieve genetic gain and competitive advantage as established with R&D leadership. The essential functions of this position include supervise and coordinate sample collection at the pedigree farm, ensure quality samples are produced and submitted, collect all necessary biotech sample data, maintain inventory availability at the farm, collect all farm samples related to certifications for NPIP and Cobb specific sampling, and communicate and liaise with farm and biotech management. This also includes developing qualified and effective team members along with maintaining a culture of safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare.
Requirements:
Education: Requires broad knowledge in a general professional field, normally acquired through four (4) years of college resulting in a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Three (3) plus years poultry management related experience. Knowledge of pedigree farm activities is of benefit as these sample collection requirements will need to fit in among farm activities. Proficiency in data collection and management through Microsoft Office applications is necessary.
Travel: Minimal domestic trips.
Supervisory Responsibility: A team of 2-4 hourly positions.
Biosecurity Requirements: The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering before entering the facility and could require multiple showers during the work day. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds). The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times. Must be willing to follow the guidelines in the Pedigree Farm Biosecurity Standards.
Physical Requirements: Physical Environment: Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment Required: When visiting facilities is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment.
