SunRice have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Farm Operator to join our business. You will be seen to conduct field activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, and grading of pure seed. As well as working with the broader team on daily planning and implementation of activities needed.
You will be based in our Jerilderie "Old Coree" site.
Your duties will include:
Farm related activities
- Conduct farming activities to complete cropping operation
- Conducting tests and inspections of seed, rice, and farm processes to evaluate quality or performance
- Ensure all equipment used are in working order
- Complete all activities within NSW Legislation and SunRice Work Health & Safety standards
- Identify areas for Continuous improvement across the farming enterprise
Business
- Providing information to peers, managers and the business by way of written and verbal communication, including reporting business-critical activity
- Retrieving information from relevant sources to make appropriate decisions
- Be able to work collaboratively across the business
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 5+ years' previous experience within a similar role, ideally with rice or grain crops
- Experience working with Irrigated Agriculture and broad-acre cropping
- Understanding of irrigated farming systems relating to Rice
- Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting rice including storage/handling techniques.
- Current Class C driver's license or above, and Heavy Vehicle Licence would be highly regarded
- Experience in the operation of machinery and equipment used in harvesting
- Chemical handling knowledge
- Current First Aid Certificate would be beneficial
- Confidence and ability to communicate with a diverse range of people
- You have a high attention to detail
- You are mechanically minded
- Highly organised and capable of planning complex dynamic situation
- You are willing to problem solve to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
