Chapin Family Farms is hiring for a full-time Crop and Feed Production Team Member in Remus, MI, located 25 minutes southeast of Big Rapids and 30 minutes west of Mt. Pleasant. In this role, you will handle a range of farming responsibilities, including operating farm equipment, assisting with irrigation, coordinating with agronomists, vendors, and suppliers, and performing general farm tasks.

Chapin Family Farms says it right in the name: Family. Founded in 1916 in southern Mecosta County on 80 acres, we now farm approximately 3,000 acres and currently milk 1,000 cows. Our goal is to raise and feed quality cows for quality milk, and the only way to do that is to have a quality team. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

Collaborate and assist in the entire cropping process from planting to harvest
Collaborate and assist in the irrigation of crops in a timely manner
Communicate efficiently and effectively with the agronomist, vendors, and suppliers
Keep detailed records of crop inputs and production
Operate a variety of equipment related to tillage, planting, fertilizer spreading, hauling, spraying, etc.
Collaborate as a team in the off season to perform maintenance on equipment, dairy barn repairs, or whatever else is priority for the dairy

Qualifications include

Must be comfortable working in a dairy setting
Strong and effective communication and leadership skills to work with a team
A love and respect for farming and those you work with
Experience working with agricultural machinery and equipment
Must be comfortable with long hours and multitasking, especially throughout the growing season
