Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients while supporting veterinarians in their daily tasks. This position requires a blend of technical skills, empathy, and a commitment to animal welfare.

Duties

Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, to aid in diagnosis.
Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Monitor the health and behavior of animals before, during, and after procedures.
Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic environment, including equipment sterilization.
Handle animals safely and compassionately to minimize stress during visits.

Qualifications

A degree or certification in veterinary technology from an accredited program is preferred.
Previous experience as a veterinary technician or in a similar role is advantageous.
Knowledge of laboratory procedures and ability to perform diagnostic tests is essential.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Schedule:

8 hour shift
Monday to Friday
Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

Nanaimo, BC V9V 1K8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:

Veterinary Technician: 1 year (preferred)
