Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Herder to join our agricultural team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal husbandry and a strong background in farming and agriculture. This role involves the management and care of livestock, ensuring their health and well-being while maintaining efficient farm operations.

Duties

Oversee the daily care and management of livestock, including feeding, watering, and monitoring health.
Implement animal restraint techniques as needed for veterinary care or handling.
Ensure the well-being of animals.
Maintain sanitation standards in all animal housing areas to promote health and prevent disease.
Assist with breeding programs by applying knowledge of genetics and animal husbandry practices.
Handle heavy lifting tasks related to feed, equipment, or animal movement as required.
Utilize mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and repair to support farm operations.
Collaborate with veterinary professionals to address any health concerns or emergencies involving animals.
Maintain accurate records related to animal care, breeding, and health assessments using basic math skills.

Skills

Strong understanding of farming practices and agricultural principles.
Proficient in animal handling techniques
Knowledgeable in animal husbandry practices to ensure optimal care.
Mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining farm equipment.
Basic math skills for record keeping and inventory management.
Experience with sanitation protocols in agricultural settings.
Familiarity with blood sampling techniques for livestock health monitoring.
Capability for heavy lifting as part of daily responsibilities.
Understanding of genetics as it relates to breeding programs is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
