POSITION SUMMARY
Oyster River Ecology is hiring a Part-Time Oyster Rag Pot Technician to support our oyster habitat restoration efforts. This position involves hands-on fabrication of oyster rag pots—restoration units used to promote oyster reef growth along Florida’s coastlines. This position will periodically work alongside volunteers, creating and installing oyster rag pots. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assemble oyster rag pots – consisting of coating a cotton rag with wet cement and hanging it over an anchor pin and a wood spacer. Refer to the slides linked here.
Follow fabrication protocols to ensure product consistency and durability.
Prepare and organize materials (cutting, batching, labeling) for fabrication and deployment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Track inventory of materials and communicate supply needs.
Assist with the transport and loading of materials and rag pots.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years or older.
A positive attitude supportive of our can-do-will-do work culture.
Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and work standing for extended periods.
Comfortable working in warehouse settings, outdoors, and in hot and humid or cold conditions.
Reliable transportation to the Palmetto work site.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently after training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Background or interest in environmental science, aquaculture, or estuarine habitat restoration.
Prior experience in physical labor or habitat restoration work (not required).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
