Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant and Technician to join our veterinary dermatology team. This role involves providing exceptional animal care, assisting veterinarians with medical procedures, and ensuring a smooth clinic operation. The ideal candidate will have experience in animal husbandry, veterinary assistance, and possess strong animal handling skills. Prior experience with kennel management, laboratory procedures, and veterinary critical care is highly valued. Duties

Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments by preparing equipment and assisting with procedures
Perform animal restraint safely and effectively for examinations and procedures
Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
Care for hospitalized animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring vital signs
Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of surgical instruments and treatment areas using aseptic techniques
Support front desk operations including appointment scheduling, client communication, and record keeping
Conduct laboratory tests and assist with sample collection for diagnostic purposes
Manage animal catheterization, intravenous access, and other technical procedures requiring veterinary technician skills
Assist with animal physiology assessments and knowledge of animal anatomy during diagnostics or treatments
Support animal husbandry activities including feeding schedules, cleaning enclosures, and ensuring overall animal well-being
Handle a variety of animals including dogs ans cats

Qualifications

Previous experience in veterinary clinics or animal hospitals is preferred; veterinary assistant or technician experience is highly desirable
Kennel experience and animal husbandry knowledge are advantageous
Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, pet care practices, and animal physiology
Experience with animal restraint techniques for various species including dogs and horses
Ability to perform medication administration accurately and safely
Laboratory experience related to diagnostic testing is a plus
Knowledge of aseptic techniques to prevent infection during procedures
Excellent animal handling skills with the ability to work confidently with different species including dogs and equines
Front desk skills such as communication, organization, and client service are beneficial
Must be able to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
