Company Overview:
Steamboat Wharf Oyster Co is a small, family owned oyster operation in the White Stone area. We are growing a premium Virginia oyster at the mouth of the Rappahannock River.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Oyster Farm Hand to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of daily oyster farming operations, including planting, maintenance, harvesting, and processing. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in an outdoor, physically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with planting, grading, and harvesting oysters
Operate and maintain aquaculture gear and equipment, including cages, bags, floats, and lines
Clean and sort oysters by size and quality standards
Perform regular maintenance of farm infrastructure and work areas
Load and unload boats, trucks, and other farm vehicles
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment

Qualifications:

Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting 50+ pounds and working in various weather conditions
Comfortable working on boats and around the water
Dependable and punctual, with reliable transportation
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small team
Willingness to learn aquaculture practices and adapt to a dynamic work environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in aquaculture, commercial fishing, or agriculture
Basic boating or mechanical knowledge

Schedule & Compensation:

Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with occasional weekends
Compensation: $18–$20 per hour, based on experience

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
