Responsibilities

Conduct thorough examinations of animals, accurately diagnosing health issues using veterinary terminology and understanding of animal physiology and anatomy
Perform medical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and aseptic techniques to ensure safe and effective treatment
Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments tailored to each animal’s needs, with special attention to critical care protocols when necessary
Assist with laboratory testing and interpret results to inform diagnosis and treatment plans
Handle diverse animals including dogs, cats, equines, and other small or large animals with expert animal handling skills
Provide pet grooming, animal husbandry, and basic pet care advice to owners for ongoing wellness at home
Maintain detailed medical records while adhering to veterinary terminology standards and laboratory procedures

Skills

Proven veterinary critical care experience with the ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations
Strong animal restraint skills for safe handling during examinations and procedures
Extensive veterinary experience across various species, including dogs and horses (equine experience preferred)
Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary terminology essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment
Skilled in animal husbandry practices such as pet grooming, feeding, and general care routines
Proficient in animal catheterization techniques and aseptic procedures to prevent infection during treatments
Laboratory experience for diagnostic testing and interpreting results effectively
Ability to handle pets with compassion while ensuring safety for both animals and staff
