POSITION SUMMARY: The Hatchery Production Manager is responsible for managing the overall Hatchery process including supervision of team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervises and coordinates activities of Team members engaged in receiving and preparing eggs for incubation; incubating eggs; grading, preparing, and transporting chicks from the hatchery. Assigns and schedule team members to duties within the hatchery. Coordinates all functions within the hatchery from incoming eggs to outgoing chicks to provide a smooth operation.
- Responsible for interviewing/hiring new team members, appraising performance and conducting departmental training, including safety training. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Manages and recommends equipment and supply needs, production and research requirements, and work schedules. Maintains hatchery inventories for supplies; responsible for billing and purchasing for the Hatchery.
- Regularly communicates with servicemen and manager on chick quality to ensure egg and chick quality, and to proactively address any concerns or issues.
- Investigate equipment problems. Monitors thermometers, gauges, and chart recorders to detect equipment malfunctions and to verify compliance with incubator temperature and ventilation standards. Adjusts controls to maintain specified incubating conditions.
- Responsible for budgeting all hatchery costs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- 3-5 Years of Previous Related Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred; Animal/Poultry Science, Business or related field
- Good communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to effectively lead, coach/mentor and influence others
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to coach and mentor others
- Good project management skills
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, SAP, and MTECH programs
