We are looking for the right, successful ER Veterinarians to provide canine and feline emergency/urgent/critical care while maintaining exemplary customer service. The Emergency Veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with the Chief Medical Officer and supporting medical staff. This individual advances the quality of medicine in the hospital and provides exceptional client service to our clients and patients. Motivated new graduates are encouraged to apply. Wonderful opportunity to work in a brand-new facility with emphasis on emergency medicine and surgery. Both new graduates and experienced DVMs are welcomed. You'll get to use your skills and will be encouraged to gain new ones. You will be provided comradery and support with local, easily available onsite practice owners. Any experience level, including specialty, will beconsidered. ER Mentorship or a more structured internship program are both available! *Duties & Responsibilities* ● Responsible for working with and guiding a team of dedicated veterinary assistants and technicians during your shift while they do treatments, diagnostics and communicate the financial aspects of the visit with the client. ● Builds rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to and empathizing with their concerns. ● Communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis and treatment plans. ● Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries. ● Create a treatment plan and estimates of care. Communicates with owners financial expectations reasonably. ● Responsible for outpatient case care, emergency case triage, and monitoring hospitalized patients overnight. ● Triage multiple patients at once, have the skills (or desire to learn the skills) to perform emergency procedures and surgery, and be confident in basic interpretation of diagnostic imaging and laboratory results. ● Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs/records are kept up to date through established protocols. ● Models a professional and courteous manner with staff, clients and patients. ● Stays current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine. ● Assists in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service. ● Presents a positive image of the hospital in the professional community and to the general public. ● Participates in monthly doctor's case reviews and journal article reviews. *Qualifications & Experience* ● Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, team environment. ● Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in a veterinary clinic environment, including the use of euthanasia. ● Must have active listening, critical thinking, complex problem solving, time management, judgement and decision-making skills. ● Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics. ● Availability to work overnight, weekend, and holiday emergency shifts within a rotating schedule. ● Ability to lead and motivate a team of Technicians, Assistants, and CSRs and work effectively and efficiently. ● Make decisions confidently and effectively. ● Manage’s time and tasks appropriately. ● Commitment to ongoing educational development and growth. ● Models a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients. ● Commitment to ongoing educational development and growth. *Education & Licensure* ● A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university. ● Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of Idaho. *Schedule* Emergency Veterinarians have a balanced schedule consisting of days, nights, weekends and holidays that is designed by all of the staff doctors. Full-time ER employment averages 12 shifts per month. Possibility for part-time position as well.
