Job Title: Veterinary TechnicianJob Overview:
Veterinary technicians assist veterinarians in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of animals. They perform a variety of tasks to ensure the health and well-being of pets, livestock, and other animals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide compassionate care to animals, including administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Clinical Support: Assist in diagnostic tests, including blood and urine tests, radiography, and other laboratory procedures.
- Surgical Assistance: Prepare animals and equipment for surgery, monitor patients during surgical procedures, and assist with post-operative care.
- Client Communication: Educate pet owners on animal care and health practices, and provide information regarding medications and treatments.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each patient, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Laboratory Work: Perform laboratory tests and analyses, including fecal exams and cytology, and assist in the processing of samples.
- Facility Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments and maintenance of medical equipment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience in a veterinary setting preferred but not required.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle emergency situations calmly.
- Proficiency in using veterinary medical equipment and technology.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
