This results in increased yields from game-changing seeds that promote food production and income where factors such as population growth and climate change pose mounting challenges – agriculture that benefits farmers, society, and the environment.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nYour Role\r\nIntegral to Gates Ag One's mission of providing groundbreaking agricultural technologies to small holder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia is conducting confined field trials and lab/greenhouse experiments in varied geographies. As the Permits & Regulatory Compliance Associate, you will play a key role in helping Gates Ag One achieve its objectives by supporting the efforts to obtain regulatory permits and ensuring adherence to compliance and stewardship best practices and standards by Gates Ag One partners and affiliates.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nYour responsibilities will include organizing, tracking, maintaining regulatory permits as well as associated standard operating procedures tied to Gates Ag One managed work. You will help ensure that activities involving regulated plant materials-including shipment, storage, testing, planting, and devitalization- are carried out in accordance with the relevant regulatory requirements and stewardship best practices established by Gates Ag One or regulatory authorities in different geographies. You will also assist in the review, inspection and documentation of potential organizations to include within Gates Ag One's portfolio.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nAttention to detail, ability to interpret and implement regulatory requirements and the ability to communicate professionally with diverse collaborators are essential for this role. Proficiency with computer and cloud-based organization systems used for archiving and tracking permits and compliance information is also principal to success in this role. A desire and willingness to travel both locally and internationally is a benefit but is not required.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThis position reports to the Deputy Director of Regulatory Science, Compliance and Stewardship.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nApplications will be accepted until 5 PM Pacific Time on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat You'll Do\r\n\r\n\r\n\tIn collaboration with the Permits and Regulatory Compliance Manager, work with internal departments to schedule, plan, and complete permit submissions.\r\n\tHelp collect and organize all necessary information from internal partners for permit submissions.\r\n\tBecome proficient with Gates Ag One's Permit Information Management System to help users input necessary permit application information, troubleshoot errors, and organize permit information effectively.\r\n\tHelp draft electronic compliance tracking notebooks for the various permitted efforts.\r\n\tTrack and produce monthly reports on the status of electronic compliance tracking notebooks.\r\n\tCalendarize all internal and external reporting obligations and ensure that obligations are met in a timely manner and communicated to collaborators.\r\n\tIn collaboration with the Permits and Regulatory Compliance Manager, monitor partner and contract research organization activities to ensure adherence to contractual and permit requirements.\r\n\tRequest, receive, and archive associated internal and external documentation.\r\n\tHelp draft and review standard operating procedures for affiliates working under Gates Ag One permits\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nYour Experience\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBachelor's degree (preferably in agriculture or a biology-related field).\r\n\tExperience working with regulated plant materials\r\n\tDemonstrated skills for quickly learning new computer and cloud-based programs\r\n\tExperience with information and database management\r\n\tExceptional attention to detail and organizational skills\r\n\tEffective verbal and written communication skills\r\n\tAbility to work both independently and collaboratively\r\n\tPrior experience with permitting, regulatory compliance, or document management preferred\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nOther Attributes\r\n\r\n\r\n\tAn optimistic solutions-oriented mindset that welcomes a diversity of opinions and values\r\n\tAn innovative attitude that seeks to not only get the task at hand done but can help drive efficiency through creative solutions\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMust be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe salary range for this role is $105,400 to $158,000 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission and new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary range between the minimum and the midpoint salary range.
