The company was formally established in 1996 as a result of the merger of Sparta Co-op Exchange and Sparta Co-op Oil, giving them the ability to provide a wide range of products and services. These include agronomic products and services including seed, chemicals, fertilizer, custom spreading, and more as well as grain, fuel, and tire services. Sparta’s mission is to provide local patrons with a one-stop shop for all their agricultural needs.
We are looking for an
Agronomy Manager to oversee our ag operations in
Sparta, WI. In this role, you will manage agronomic operations, lead a team consisting of an agronomist, applicators, and truck drivers, aiding in agronomic sales, supporting customer needs both on and off facility grounds, and seasonally managing grain operations.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact person for all operational needs for all departments at the location in addition to customers.
- Manage the receiving, storage, and inventory of all agricultural products.
- Responsible for all inventories, ie, Chemicals, Fertilizers, Seeds.
- Supervise, lead, and develop both full-time and part-time employees.
- Support operations during grain harvesting including dispatching trucks to growers and overseeing grain quality.
- Oversee record keeping, facilitating equipment maintenance and ensuring appearance of all company equipment is upheld.
- Oversee agronomy sales and services by collaborating with the agronomist
- Ability to work hours other than those considered normal to meet the seasonal demands of the job.
What We’re Looking for:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, crop/soil science, or related major preferred.
- A proven background in seed, chemical, fertilizer, and/or commodity sales, agriculture-related operational knowledge, or equivalent proven work experiences are encouraged to apply.
- Strong agronomic understanding of row and/or specialty crops.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience.
- Communicates effectively with staff and grower network both verbally and written.
- Proven ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Understanding of basic computer skills as they related to Ag business.
