Our progressive, mixed animal practice in Peace River is looking for a new team member! We are hiring for a hybrid position that combines the best of both a Veterinary Medical Receptionist (VMR) and a Veterinary Technical Assistant (VTA).

Peace River, originally named Peace River Crossing and known as Rivière-la-Paix in French, is a scenic, vibrant, urban centre in Alberta’s north-west and has a population of almost 7,000. Our hybrid VMR/ VTA must possess strong organizational skills, excellent telephone and in-person communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Our employees are passionate and show great compassion for animals and their owners and understand the stress that patients and clients endure. As we are a mixed animal practice, our employee’s must be comfortable working around multiple species of animals. The VMR / VTA daily duties comprise of the following, but they are not limited to these duties: greeting clients; differentiating routine cases from emergency cases; scheduling appointments; entering client, patient, and financial data into the computer; generating invoices and explaining them to clients; processing payments; managing the retrieval and storage of medical records; provide exceptional patient care, maintain biosecurity within the hospital, clean and maintain instruments and equipment and complete inventory tasks as needed; animal handling and husbandry; setting up for medical procedures and surgeries; and supporting veterinarians and veterinary technologists with daily treatments and care of patients.

- Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills;
- A positive team player attitude to enable our team to grow and flourish;
- The ability to lift 35+ pounds without assistance;
- Strong organizational skills which allow you to stay focused and work under pressure;
- Completion of a high-school diploma
- Competence in the English language
- Preference given to those with previous industry experience
