Job Title: Production Supervisor\r\n\r\nDepartment: Grow-Finish\r\n\r\nLocation: Sioux Center, IA\r\n\r\nReports To: Production Manager\r\n\r\nFLSA Status: Exempt\r\n\r\nEmployment Type: Full-Time\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPurpose:\r\n\r\nThe Production Supervisor provides operations-level leadership and direct accountability for contract growers, independent caretakers, and HANOR employees in the Iowa/Illinois region. This position ensures the consistent execution of animal care, facility management, and production practices in alignment with The HANOR Way and HANOR Production Practices (HPP). The Production Supervisor achieves results by training, coaching, and holding caretakers accountable for compliance, animal well-being, and operational performance.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nEssential Job Functions:\r\n\r\nOperational Execution\r\n\r\n\r\n\tConduct regular farm visits to evaluate and reinforce standards for animal care, biosecurity, and facility management.\r\n\tParticipate in farm activities (chores, load outs) to model expectations and provide hands-on training.\r\n\tEnsure maintenance and emergency systems are functional, reliable, and ready for use.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nCompliance & Training\r\n\r\n\r\n\tLead training and hold contract growers, caretakers, and HANOR employees accountable for HANOR Production Practices and biosecurity requirements.\r\n\tConduct monthly face-to-face meetings with caretakers to review performance, share feedback, and address opportunities for improvement.\r\n\tMonitor and enforce adherence to safety, animal well-being, and verification programs.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nAnimal Care, Feed & Health\r\n\r\n\r\n\tOversee feed management practices, including ordering, feeder adjustment, and minimizing waste.\r\n\tPartner with veterinarians and caretakers to monitor herd health and respond to concerns.\r\n\tImplement marketing protocols for animal selection and timing to optimize revenues.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nInventory & Reporting\r\n\r\n\r\n\tAccurately count and grade pigs, ensuring mortality and sales are reported promptly.\r\n\tManage veterinary and maintenance supply ordering and accountability.\r\n\tCommunicate Key Production Indicators (KPIs) to caretakers to reinforce expectations and accountability.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPlanning & Communication\r\n\r\n\r\n\tPlan and schedule weekly activities to ensure operational priorities are achieved.\r\n\tCoordinate logistics for markets, culls, and feed deliveries.\r\n\tMaintain clear and consistent communication with caretakers, including use of Spanish when appropriate.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nSupervisory Responsibilities\r\n\r\nThis role directs and holds accountable contract growers, caretakers, and independent contractors, and HANOR employees. The Production Supervisor sets expectations for performance outcomes while reporting operational performance to the Production Manager.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nQualifications:\r\n\r\nEducation and Experience\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.\r\n\tMinimum one year of successful grow-finish or swine production experience required.\r\n\tProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and farm management software/electronic reporting systems.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\r\n\r\n\r\n\tStrong understanding of swine production systems, animal husbandry, and biosecurity best practices.\r\n\tProven ability to train, coach, and hold caretakers accountable to standards.\r\n\tEffective organizational skills to manage multiple farm priorities.\r\n\tStrong communication skills, with Spanish proficiency preferred.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nCertifications, Licenses, and Registrations\r\n\r\n\r\n\tPork Quality Assurance (PQA) and Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) certifications required.\r\n\tHANOR Animal Well-Being (AWB) training required\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe HANOR Way Core Values:\r\n\r\nAll employees are expected to model and support The HANOR Way in their daily work:\r\n\r\n\r\n\t1.
