We are seeking a dedicated Feedlot and Ranch Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day cattle health, cow-calf herd management, property oversight, and team leadership across our ranch and feedlot operations in Melstone, MT. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant responsibility for animal care, property management, and employee supervision.

Key Responsibilities
Feedlot Management
- Serve as primary health manager for all feedlot cattle.
- Conduct daily health checks, administer treatments, and maintain accurate records in Performance Beef software.
- Oversee processing of incoming cattle, sorting, and shipments.
- Coordinate pen upkeep, water checks, and feed delivery with the Feed Manager.
- Manage medical and veterinary supply inventory.
Cow-Calf Herd Management
- Supervise calving, herd health, treatments, and supplement distribution.
- Oversee grazing rotation, fencing, and water systems across 32,000–40,000 acres.
- Lead seasonal operations such as branding, preg checks, weaning, and supplemental feeding.
- Collaborate with ranch owners on herd and operational planning.
Lease Property Oversight (4,500 Acres)
- Reside on-site in provided housing and maintain property and outbuildings.
- Manage cattle grazing and 250 irrigated acres (including 100 alfalfa valves).
- Coordinate with absentee landowner and utilize provided ranch vehicles/4-wheelers for daily tasks.
Team Leadership
- Supervise ~2 full-time and 4–6 part-time employees, including H2A seasonal staff.
- Provide clear communication, training, and performance oversight.
- Foster a respectful, team-focused workplace culture.
Seasonal & General Support
- Collaborate with other managers during peak farming and ranching seasons.
- Assist with general farm and ranch work as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in feedlot and ranch management.
- Strong background in cattle health, herd management, and grazing practices.
- Hands-on ability to manage fencing, irrigation, and property maintenance.
- Leadership skills with experience managing small teams.
- Proficiency with livestock recordkeeping systems (Performance Beef experience a plus).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to live on-site and be highly involved in daily ranch operations.
