Alliance Ag & Grain LLC located in Spearville, KS is hiring a Grain Operations Manager. \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPosition Summary:\r\n\r\nThe Grain Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of our grain handling and rail loading facility in Haviland, Kansas, as well as managing our grain locations in Greensburg, Mullinville and Joy. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all grain receiving, storage, conditioning, and outbound logistics, with a strong emphasis on railcar loading and coordination with Class I railroads. The manager leads a team of operations personnel, oversees maintenance and capital improvements, and ensures optimal grain quality and customer satisfaction.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nKey Responsibilities:\r\n\r\nFacility & Rail Operations:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tOversee all aspects of grain handling including receiving, drying, aeration, blending, and storage.\r\n\tManage the scheduling, coordination, and execution of unit train loading operations (e.g., 110+ car shuttle trains).\r\n\tEnsure compliance with railroad requirements, including track inspection, car placement, and loading timelines.\r\n\tMonitor grain flow and inventory using automated systems.\r\n\tMaintain accurate records of grain movement, shrink, and quality metrics.\r\n\tCoordinate with merchandising and logistics teams to align rail shipments with market demand and contract obligations.\r\n\tOversee preventative maintenance programs for grain handling equipment, rail infrastructure, and automation systems.\r\n\tManage maintenance budgets and ensure timely procurement of parts and services\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nSafety & Compliance:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tEnforce strict adherence to OSHA, FRA, EPA, and company safety standards.\r\n\tLead facility safety programs, including confined space entry, lockout/tagout, fall protection, and emergency response.\r\n\tConduct regular safety audits, drills, and training sessions.\r\n\tEnsure environmental compliance related to dust control, grain fumigation, and waste management.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPersonnel Management:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tRecruit, train, and supervise a team of Operators, Office personnel, and Seasonal staff.\r\n\tDevelop shift schedules to support operations during peak seasons.\r\n\tFoster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.\r\n\tConduct performance evaluations and support career development.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nCustomer & Stakeholder Relations:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tServe as the primary point of contact for producers, and railroad representatives.\r\n\tEnsure timely and accurate communication regarding grain deliveries, quality issues, and shipment schedules.\r\n\tRepresent the facility in community and industry meetings as needed.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nQualifications:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, or related field (preferred).\r\n\t5+ years of experience in grain operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.\r\n\tExperience in managing rail logistics and train loading operations is required.\r\n\tStrong understanding of grain quality management, inventory control, and safety regulations.\r\n\tProficiency with grain accounting and automation systems (e.g., CompuWeigh).\r\n\tExcellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.\r\n\tAbility to work extended hours, weekends, and respond to emergencies during peak seasons.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPhysical Requirements:\r\n\r\nWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell; stand; walk; sit and climb or balance.
