Deerfield Farm Services, a division of Johnson Farms, is hiring a Transportation Manager to join their team in Deerfield, NJ.
With over 50 years of experience, Deerfield Farms Service prides itself on maintaining a fully serviced fleet of current model tractors and trailers. The on-site service shop has trained technicians dedicated to keeping the fleet on the road. From hauling for the frozen and bulk food, agriculture, and bulk materials industries, we cover from Maine to Florida.
As the Transportation Manager, you will be based in Deerfield, NJ, where the shop is also located. You will manage all activities related to transportation, logistics, and the team of 6 office staff members and 30 drivers. The fleet is Kenworth and Freightliner, with 34 sleeper cabs, 10 day cabs, and a full inventory of Reefer, Dry Van, Walking Floor, Dump Trailers, and Flatbed Trailers. You will also have direct responsibility for the division's financials, performance reporting, KPIs, and overall profitability. You will cross-functionally coordinate with the service team as well. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm while rotating weekends to be on call for issues that could arise.

Responsibilities:
- Communicating and negotiating rates with existing customers and brokers
- Directing activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of our fleet
- Oversight of profitability for the division, financial analysis, and budgeting
- KPI development and tracking, along with performance reporting
- Troubleshoot and direct resolutions with pickups and deliveries
- Utilize logistics software and telematics systems for tracking, reporting, and performance analysis
- Recruit, train, and evaluate staff; set performance goals and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
- Coordinate as needed with the mechanic shop on maintenance of the fleet
- Collaborating with staff to formulate and implement transportation-related procedures, as well as company revenue goals and customer service objectives
- Build relationships with customers and help to resolve customer issues
- Ensure all transportation activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT and FMCSA standards
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct regular audits, and lead driver training programs to promote a culture of safety
