Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with relevant experience in a veterinary setting. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the health and well-being of our animal patients. Your responsibilities will encompass various tasks from animal handling to assisting in clinical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent care for animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising them as needed.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and medical procedures.
- Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both staff and patients.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, ensuring accurate dosages and schedules.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes to the veterinary team.
- Use veterinary terminology effectively when communicating with staff and clients.
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection and preparation for testing.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments and managing client communications as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and pet care fundamentals is essential.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and catheterization techniques is highly beneficial.
- Experience with dog handling, animal restraint, medication administration, and aseptic techniques is desired.
- Background in veterinary critical care or equine experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
