Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Zookeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and a deep understanding of animal physiology and behavior. As a Zookeeper, you will play a vital role in the daily care and management of various species, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being while also engaging with the public to educate them about wildlife conservation.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health and behavior.
- Administer medications as prescribed by veterinary staff and maintain accurate records of animal health.
- Engage in public education by answering visitor inquiries about animals and their habitats. Other opportunities in Keeper Talks, Educational Tours, Ambassador Animal Interactions, etc.
- Participate in enrichment activities to promote natural behaviors in animals.
- Maintain detailed records of animal diets, health assessments, and behavioral observations.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year minimum in animal husbandry (non-pet).
- Experience in animal handling, restraint techniques beyond pet care is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with the public and team members.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A commitment to animal welfare and conservation practices is essential for this role.
