\r\n\t\r\n\tOur client is searching for a Payroll and Benefits Specialist. This position is responsible for processing a weekly payroll for approximately 150 salaried positions and supervising the administration of payroll for 1300 hourly employees. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is also responsible for the development and maintenance of the payroll and Workforce Management (WFM) modules within the Human Capital Management system (HCM), and administration and reporting of the pension and benefits programs.\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\tRESPONSIBILITIES:\r\n\r\n\tPayroll\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\tEnsure accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll for hourly and salaried groups\r\n\t\r\n\t\tEnsure pay policies and processes adhere to legislative requirements\r\n\t\r\n\t\tMaintain up to date and accurate electronic records and filing systems\r\n\t\r\n\t\tEnter all new hire information, changes and terminations for salaried employees\r\n\t\r\n\t\tProvide payroll reports as required and requested\r\n\t\r\n\t\tInput and track request for garnishments made by the appropriate authorities ensuring that the correct amounts are deducted and remitted to those authorities on an as required basis\r\n\t\r\n\t\tTrack and provide payment amounts for required remittances\r\n\t\r\n\t\tCommunicate as appropriate with tax authorities regarding requests for information pertaining to current and past employees\r\n\t\r\n\t\tPrepare employee letters to confirm employment and respond to internal and external payroll related requests for information\r\n\t\r\n\t\tComplete records of employment within seven (7) days of earnings interruptions\r\n\t\r\n\t\tBalance and issue T4s on an annual basis ensuring accuracy before printing\r\n\t\r\n\t\tComplete all year end reconciliations, including the annual WSIB and EHT filings\r\n\t\r\n\t\tComplete annual vacation pay allocation and payout process\r\n\t\r\n\t\tPoint of contact for salaried payroll questions and hourly complex questions\r\n\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\tHRIS System\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\tMaintain HRIS and Time and Attendance System\r\n\t\r\n\t\tTrain and support users of the HRIS and Time and Attendance System\r\n\t\r\n\t\tManage system upgrades\r\n\t\r\n\t\tInvestigate and implement system improvements\r\n\t\r\n\t\tMaintain and update backend policies and security\r\n\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\tPension\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\tResolve issues with weekly file feeds to insurance carrier\r\n\t\r\n\t\tPrepare and manage pension enrollment process\r\n\t\r\n\t\tPrepare Form 7, Annual Returns\r\n\t\r\n\t\tOrganize information sessions and ensure completion of paperwork for new enrollments\r\n\t\r\n\t\tEnsure adherence to legislative requirements\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBenefits\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\tUpdate Dayforce with all changes\r\n\t\r\n\t\tUnderstand how Dayforce feeds into the benefits providers system\r\n\t\r\n\t\tManage monthly benefits billing and send to finance for processing\r\n\t\r\n\t\tCreate and distribute reports as required\r\n\t\r\n\t\tEnsure adherence to legislative requirements\r\n\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\tPersonal Development\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\tAttend company required training\r\n\t\r\n\t\tRemain current with technical knowledge in areas of responsibility\r\n\t\r\n\t\tAttend regular 1:1 coaching/update sessions\r\n\r\n\r\n\t \r\n\r\n\tDESIRED PROFILE:\r\n\r\n\t\r\n\t\t5 years experience in a Payroll/Benefits administration position\r\n\t\r\n\t\tPLP certification or equivalent is preferred, PCP certification is required\r\n\t\r\n\t\tOrganizational skills, proactive thinking, and attention to detail\r\n\t\r\n\t\tHRIS/payroll/time and attendance system experience, Dayforce experience is preferred with backend knowledge\r\n\t\r\n\t\tExperience with insurance carrier portals\r\n\t\r\n\t\tExcellent interpersonal skills with a focus on professionalism and confidentiality\r\n\t\r\n\t\tExcellent customer service skills\r\n\t\r\n\t\tDemonstrated computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)\r\n\t\r\n\t\tService excellence, displays personal ownership and a sense of urgency over any issues or complaints that arise from the customer experience\r\n\t\r\n\t\tMaintains an outstanding customer experience despite time pressures or obstacles\r\n\t\r\n\t\tAccountability and initiative, avoids excuses or blaming others when it comes to keeping promises\r\n\t\r\n\t\tTakes initiative and demonstrates a “do whatever it takes” work ethic to get the work done\r\n\t\r\n\t\tCommunicates with clarity, listens attentively and probes to clearly understand\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\tInterested in this Opportunity?
