The Dairy Manager will manage and work closely with the herd crew, milking crew, feeder, office manager, vendors, veterinarians, nutritionist, and consultants. All operational decisions made by the Dairy Manager will be actively communicated to the owners.\r\n\r\nDuties Include:\r\nParlor Management\r\nWork with advisors and employees to implement SOPs and protocols.\r\nEnsure correct operation of equipment.\r\nIdentify problems and implement improvements and new procedures.\r\nTest for antibiotics before the milk leaves the farm.\r\nMonitor milk quality. Inspect and change milk trailers.\r\nWork with inspectors to resolve issues.\r\nMaintain and monitor milk production records.\r\nMonitor all herd metrics.\r\n\r\nEmployee Management:\r\nSchedule employees, work, and tasks.\r\nRecruit and terminate employees.\r\nTrain and develop new and current employees.\r\nCommunicate and assist with other employees.\r\nInspire and Support employee performance.\r\nSupervise and Evaluate employee performance.\r\nAttend and conduct employee meetings.\r\n\r\nHerd Health Management:\r\nWork in conjunction with Herdsman\r\nCollect and record data utilizing Dairy Comp\r\nObserve all livestock for signs of illness or distress\r\nConsult with veterinarian.\r\nObserve and support ideal cow care\r\nRecommend culling decisions\r\nManage pharmaceutical inventory and vet supplies\r\n\r\nReproductive Management:\r\nOversee breeding program performance.\r\nUtilize Cow Manager Program.\r\nBreeding ability as needed.\r\nManage semen inventory.\r\nAdminister hormone breeding program.\r\nMeet reproductive goals\r\nYoungstock Management:\r\nLead relationship with the custom heifer raiser.\r\nMonitor health and growth of young stock.\r\nDehorn, properly ID & tag calves.\r\nCarry out the existing vaccination program and ensure vaccines are administered appropriately\r\nColostrum Management.\r\nSanitation oversight of pens and equipment.\r\n\r\nFeed Management:\r\nEnsure adequate feed and water are provided for the herd.\r\nWork directly with the Nutritionist on feed decisions.\r\nOversight of Feeder and Bunker Management.\r\nTrack current feed inventories.\r\nOrder feed commodities as needed.\r\n\r\nMaintenance Management:\r\nPerform scheduled Parlor Maintenance.\r\nMonitor and upkeep of Manure Systems.\r\nMaintain the condition and operation of facilities and utilities.\r\nEnsure the function of dairy machinery.\r\nTake the lead on facility improvements.\r\nCoordinate timely repairs.\r\nOrder parts and organize inventory as needed.\r\nSolve problems as they arise.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nALL INQUIRIES ARE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL.
