Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Herder to join our agricultural team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing livestock, ensuring their safety and well-being while also maintaining the integrity of the farm environment. This role requires a strong understanding of animal behavior, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to operate farm machinery effectively.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement feeding programs, in partnership with the Manager.
- Watering of livestock.
- Monitor animal health – Observe, detect, and treat diseases, injuries, and health problems.
- Create and maintain regulatory and compliance documents and checks
- Implementing pasture or pen breeding programs, potentially including artificial insemination, and execute.
- Monitoring the health of the herd, conducting routine herd health procedures like vaccinations and deworming, and keeping records.
- Oversee and maintain fences and ranch infrastructure.
- Facility upkeep, including bedding, manure handling, and maintaining other farm facilities.
- Rotational grazing, rangeland management, pasture maintenance, and assisting with hay production.
- Selecting livestock for sale and for purchase. Prepare cattle for sales and exhibitions, interacting with customers, and delivering animals.
- Ordering, inventory, and submission of receipts and expense reports for bookkeeping.
- Operate farm machinery, including tractors, plows, mowers, balers, sprayers, earthmoving equipment, or trucks.
- Oversee and assist in the maintenance and repairs of equipment.
- Creating, monitoring, and maintenance of accurate records of livestock, including breeding, performance, and health.
Experience
- Previous experience in animal husbandry or a similar role is preferred but not required.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and repair farm machinery is highly desirable.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform heavy lifting tasks consistently throughout the workday.
- Strong work ethic.
- Familiarity with livestock behavior and handling techniques.

Pay: $39,776.88-$80,000.00 per year
