We are seeking an experienced leader to join the management team at Council’s Livestock Marketing Centre (LMC).
As the Livestock Marketing Centre (LMC) Assistant Manager, you will provide critical support to the Manager LMC overseeing a team of up to 20 direct and indirect staff reports, and leading the delivery of high-quality operations, maintenance and services of Council’s LMC facility.

- Remuneration package of $3,747.20 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $4,496.64 gross per fortnight + superannuation (12%).

Key Responsibilities:
As the Livestock Marketing Centre (LMC) Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for:

Plan and coordinate the team’s work activities including plant, materials and contractors.
-
Oversee the implementation of capital improvements and maintenance of the LMC.
-
Lead, engage, mentor and develop the team, ensuring effective personnel management in order to deliver operational works and achieve the best organisational and community outcomes.

Lead the operations team to deliver sale day activities.
-
Assist the LMC Facility Manager to conduct livestock sales.
-
Operate scale and ring computers.
-
Develop, implement, and maintain operations team works programs and on-call roster, including plant and materials.
-
Oversee the implementation of actions arising from Council’s requirements under the Environmental Protection Licence for the LMC.

Assist the LMC Facility Manager to prepare and implement the LMC capital and recurring works program, maintenance and inspection schedules and monitor budget performance in accordance with annual works programs.

Maintain animal health requirements for livestock on site.

Prepare work order forms for defects identified during inspection processes.

Report on the quality and quantity of work produced from the details provided within the completed work order submitted by supervisors.

Prepare correspondence, reports, and analytical data in relation to work programs, and maintenance and inspection schedules.

Ensure the operations of the business unit / service team is within budgetary limits.

Coordinate and respond to customer service requests in accordance with approved service levels.

Manage contracts and contractors in accordance with Council’s procurement processes.

Undertake administrative duties relevant to the role including but not limited to; Work Health & Safety documentation and reports (i.e. site safety inductions, risk assessments), purchasing requisitions; quotations and orders; timesheet and leave authorisations, staff performance appraisals, maintenance of registers etc.

Project manage specialty maintenance and/or preparation of facilities in relation to approved Council events and programs.

Work collaboratively with other teams within the City Businesses Division and other Council Directorates as required.
Essential Requirements of the Position:
As the successful applicant, you will bring a strong mix of qualifications, skills and professional experience, including:
-
Qualifications relevant to the role i.e., Certificate IV in Agriculture / Animal Husbandry and/or Civil Construction.

Qualifications relevant to leadership e.g. Diploma in Leadership and Management / Frontline Management.
-
Class C Driver’s Licence.
-
Class AB Shooters Licence.
-
General Construction Induction Training Card.
-
Substantial experience, skills, and knowledge relevant to the role, including but not limited to: Civil construction, Agriculture / Animal Husbandry and saleyard operations, Preparation of work programs and maintenance and inspection schedules, Grounds and asset maintenance; and Contractor management.

Solid time management, planning, administrative and computer skills including Microsoft Office.
