They operate an Agritech UK research and development farm unit and a unique Marine Hatchery, producing Halibut and Wrasse juveniles for the global market.\r\n\r\n\r\nThey are looking for a highly driven individual to become their Research and Development Trials Lead to run their land-based research unit alongside two others. The unit caters for multiple species and focuses on innovation across many aspects of Aquaculture, including nutrition, strain evaluation, fish husbandry and welfare, development of equipment and use of AI.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe successful individual will also join a larger team working on the multi-species commercial hatchery on site. They will be involved in R & D in all elements of the commercial breeding process, from hatchery to deployment, and will gain unique experience alongside experts in the marine species industry.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThey are looking for someone open-minded, engaged to learn and with a scientific curiosity adaptable to marine life; prior experience in aquaculture sector is desirable, but not required. A keen eye for detail, pattern recognition skills and a problem-solving attitude are vital.\r\n\r\n\r\nCouples are also welcome to apply if both are looking for work. Professional training will be provided for all processes and protocols.\r\n\r\n\r\nKey Responsibilities:\r\n\r\n• Reporting to Head of R and D\r\n\r\n• Developing, agreeing and implementing protocols for bespoke trials\r\n\r\n• Operating trials according to protocol\r\n\r\n• Maintaining stability in environmental factors across the unit to ensure integrity of results\r\n\r\n• Maintaining high levels of tank and equipment hygiene at all times\r\n\r\n• Recording data on all agreed parameters and carrying out interim sampling.\r\n\r\n• Assisting in the presentation and evaluation of the data\r\n\r\n• Meeting with customers to show case system and results\r\n\r\n• Part of the overall team sharing in 24/7 duty rota for the site\r\n\r\n• Communicate observations and help find solutions to internal problems\r\n\r\n\r\nYou will have:\r\n\r\n• A meticulous eye for detail and a keen problem-solving mind\r\n\r\n• Experience working with animals or fisheries\r\n\r\n• Curiosity in aquaculture, desire to gain new experiences\r\n\r\n• Good stock experience – empathizing with stock to ensure the animal or fish thrive\r\n\r\n• A Degree in Sciences/Agriculture/Animal health or related subject\r\n\r\n• Desire to live in the West of Scotland in a small highly skilled, international and sociable community\r\n\r\n• Desire to take on more responsibility and develop your career within the company\r\n\r\n\r\nRemunerations:\r\n\r\n• Competitive salary depending on experience\r\n\r\n• Standard Pension Scheme\r\n\r\n• Accommodation on-site or expenses for family accommodation in local area\r\n
