Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Aquaculture Technician to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in working hands-on in a dynamic environment. Work takes place primarily outdoors at a freshwater cage site, often in challenging weather conditions. Work is performed as part of a small, supportive team with shared responsibilities for fish welfare and site operations
Responsibilities
- Harvest Support: Assist with harvesting, fish transfer, and site setup for production cycles as required.
- Cage and Site Maintenance: Clean, inspect, and maintain cages, nets, and moorings to ensure they remain safe and fully operational.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with colleagues to complete daily routines, problem-solve operational issues, and support one another in achieving targets.
- Health & Safety: Follow site safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safe working practices on and around the water.
Experience
- Prior experience or education in aquaculture, fisheries, or animal husbandry (or equivalent practical experience) in technical or mechanical roles is preferred but not required; training will be provided for specific equipment and procedures
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small, team-oriented workforce outdoors
- Competence in boat handling and basic maintenance, preferred but not necessary
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to specified weight limits) is essential
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are highly valued
- Physical stamina to work in demanding environments for extended periods is required
- Willingness to work weekends and flexible shifts according to production needs
