Job Summary
As an Agricultural Systems Technician, you will maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems in a poultry production plant. This role supports daily production goals by ensuring equipment functions properly through preventative and predictive maintenance.
Essential Job Functions
- Repair and maintain agriculture/industrial machinery using SOPs.
- Identify root causes of mechanical and electrical issues; perform basic repairs.
- Maintain housing systems, including ventilation, water, feed, egg, and manure equipment.
- Troubleshoot and maintain conveyor belts.
- Replace or repair drive chains, gears, belts, pullies, shafts, rollers, electric motors, and gearboxes.
- Maintain tools and work area cleanliness.
- Operate all-terrain forklifts and man-lifts.
- Ensure safety for self and co-workers; report safety issues.
- Work in confined areas around animals.
- Follow compliance, food safety, and biosecurity rules in poultry houses.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Additional trade or technical school education is a plus.
- Prefer 2+ years of experience in industrial, commercial, or facility systems maintenance.
- Basic electrical knowledge and use of electrical testing devices.
- Ability to read and follow SOPs and written instructions.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Experience with safety equipment such as LOTO, harnesses, and PPE.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull 75+ lbs.
- Ability to work in extreme climate conditions and confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Maintenance experience in the poultry or agriculture industry.
- Bilingual skills.
Work Environment
The role involves working in various climate conditions, including extreme heat and cold. It requires walking, climbing, standing, and sitting for long periods, and working at heights up to 75 feet.
