Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join our team with the goal of growing this position to full time for our sustainability, your growth and to fit community needs. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well with others, take ownership of themselves and their cases and help us grow and direct our staff. As a clinic, we are committed to community and consider it a privilege to serve each other and our clients. We focus on spectrum of care to keep costs manageable for our clients and don't subscribe to corporate cookie cutter health care. Candidates should have an interest in companion animals and ruminants, chickens or horses would be a plus. We focus on providing spectrum of care to all patients and clients. This role requires excellent communication skills, and a commitment to animal welfare. The Veterinarian, of course, will be responsible for diagnosing and treating medical conditions, performing surgeries, and educating pet owners on proper animal care and husbandry. Cattle pregnancy palpations and ultrasound will be needed skills but mentorship will be provided. We see approximately 60-65% companion animals and 30% cow/calf. Remainder are goats, sheep, horses and the occasional chicken or rabbit.
Duties
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose any medical conditions and support wellness.
- Perform surgical procedures with precision and care, with both companion animal and ruminants.
- Administer/prescribe vaccinations, medications, and treatments.
- Communicating with staff and pet owners to achieve job satisfaction and patient outcomes.
- Provide guidance on animal husbandry, nutrition, and general care to pet owners.
- Handle animals safely and humanely during examinations and treatments, employing effective animal restraint techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient, documenting treatments and progress.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine through continuous education and training.
Experience
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution is required.
- Proficiency in animal handling techniques for various species, including dogs, cats and cattle.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients regarding their pets’ health needs.
