Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) are the veterinarian's primary medical support and play a vital role within the practice. RVTs must value the quality of care we provide at Juno Veterinary and communicate it to clients. The Virtual Team RVT plays a unique role in aiding the veterinarians and in-clinic care team in achieving greater efficiency in overall patient care.
Role Overview:
Virtual Team RVTs will apply their previously developed professional technical skills in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory testing, patient nursing care, and client education in order to virtually assist clients via online chat or phone call. They advise clients on various subjects from minor questions and concerns to post-operative issues, and any other questions that may arise.
The Virtual Team RVT is responsible for effectively triaging pets, determining whether they require emergency care with a larger referral hospital, same-day or next-day urgent care appointment with Juno Veterinary, or if at-home care can be implemented with their recommendations. The Virtual Team RVT is also responsible for submitting requests for prescription refills. The team works closely with the in-clinic team to ensure high quality and continuous care, and RVTs need to communicate clearly with the veterinarians, other practice personnel, as well as with clients to ensure that patients receive the care that they need. The RVT must be a detail-oriented person who can make good decisions, respond quickly and calmly to crises, and always maintain high standards of patient care.
This often requires significant multi-tasking and a creative thinking ability. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to set a good example, promote a positive work environment, and provide direction and motivation to coworkers are important aspects of the position.
Please note this position is for 'Overnights' only; 3-on // 3-off [option of 8 or 10 hour shifts]. Weekends and Holidays will be included in this shift rotation.
What You'll Do:
Collaborate with a team of skilled and passionate virtual RVTs to support our Members and team members in providing the Juno standard of care. More details below.
Responsibilities Include:

Engaging with Juno Veterinary Members through text-based chat and phone.

Address member concerns regarding the health and well-being of their animals, including both general queries and those directly related to Juno Veterinary clinic encounters.

Reviewing patient medical records before and during interactions to quickly gain relative medical history.

Utilizing your veterinary medical knowledge to accurately triage and make recommendations based on patient needs.

Recording accurate medical records utilizing appropriate veterinary terminology to include documenting client communications.

Collect, review and input medical records from referring animal hospitals.

Deliver a world class client experience by conveying compassion and genuine care over chat, phone or video communication.

You Have:

MUST be a Registered Veterinary Technician/Technologist with active registration with the OAVT or BCVTA in Good Standing

Minimum 2 years of experience in clinic with triaging skills (ideally in an ER setting)

Experience ideally in a large scale veterinary clinic;, i.e. multi-DVM general practice or Specialty service where you have comfortability with high volume

experience in managing/caring for customers with varied emotional-ranges

tech-savvy, experience with iOs system/multitude of medical digital platforms

Exceptional communication skills: our vRVTs spend a lot of their days interacting with, educating and supporting members - this is a core focus of the role

Proficiency in multi-tasking across many communication platforms

The role of Virtual RVT at Juno may require evening, weekend and holiday work. You may support members/clients who may be experiencing emotional distress and/or frustration. This position will be based remotely with potential occasional travel required locally. This position will also require extensive use of keyboard/text/chat functionality in addition to the continued use of a computer throughout your shift as a Virtual RVT.

Offer
The starting wage range for this position is $26-28 / hour . Our wage offered may vary based upon experience, skillset and years of service, all of which will be assessed throughout the interview process.
