Field Supervisor (South Region - Florida): Full Time
General Description:
The Field Supervisor has many duties of an Aquarist. However, they will also spend a significant amount of time managing key components of our animal care program. Among these regional duties, the Supervisor will provide coverage for aquarist staff, help troubleshoot animal care issues, coach staff & ensure a high quality of service, spearhead business development, balance the regional budget, and serve as the coordinator for regional office/lab (if applicable). Regular travel to all client locations within the region is required. The Field Supervisor works closely with the Regional Manager and Director of Animal Care to ensure our operational goals are reached.

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities
ANIMAL CARE OPERATIONS
60% Aquarist - Fulfills primary husbandry and exhibit care duties as outlined in our Aquarist position description. The Field Supervisor should be familiar with all aspects of our clients and their systems in the region, such as technical specifications, operation, and client relations.
10% Operations Management - Oversight and support of regional business. Provides ongoing guidance, training, assistance, and coaching to the regional team. Demonstrates strong leadership qualities.
5 % Coverage and Training - Backfills for aquarist staff as needed. The Field Supervisor will work with the Regional Manager and Director of Animal Care to coordinate aquarist coverage in the region. The Field Supervisor will also partner with the on-boarding and training team to coordinate the technical training of new staff in the region. Regular travel to all regional locations is expected.
5 % Responds to emergent and urgent animal care and system (LSS) issues that escalate above the Aquarist at all regional accounts. Duties will be shared with Regional Manager and Director of Animal Care and further division of labor will be guided by the Director.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
15 % Partners with Regional Manager and Director of Animal Care to ensure Aquamoon’s high standard of quality is upheld at all regional accounts. This duty will require regular visits to accounts to coach and assist the Aquarist(s) on duty.
BUSINESS OPERATIONS
15% Business Development (Sales) - Works with management to strategize, develop, and implement a growth program for the region. Regular travel to growth opportunities within the region is expected.
5% Budget - Works with management to review profit and loss for the region, strategize on spending, and take action to keep budget balanced for the region.
OTHER DUTIES
5 % Serve as coordinator for regional office/lab (if applicable). Manages the quarantine of animals. Works closely with Regional Manager and Director of Animal Care to coordinate animal acquisition and ensure high quality metrics are met. (Low disease, low mortality, etc). Manages the organization (workflow) and hygiene of lab space.
Partners with Regional Manager and Director of Animal Care to manage ordering for the region.
Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with management such as the regional management and sales meetings.
Partners with management to perform performance evaluations for junior staff in region.
Education
B.A. or B.S. in Biology or related field with course-work in zoology, aquatic biology and chemistry preferred.
Experience
Minimum of three years relevant experience required. Ideal candidate will have both a combination of husbandry, LSS or other relevant science experience, and management experience.
Valid Open Water dive certification is required.
Other Requirements
The Field Supervisor will be required to work unusual hours or on unscheduled days during urgent and emergent animal care circumstances, when quality control issues exist, or when growth opportunities are present.
Strong interpersonal, team ethic, and communication skills required.
Must have good hearing, visual acuity, and be able to lift 50 lbs.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
