Job Description: Our client is seeking a Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a busy, supportive hospital team handling both farm and companion animal work. This position offers genuine variety, with time split between herd and flock visits and a well-equipped small animal hospital, making it ideal for someone who enjoys switching between the field and the consulting room.
You’ll be part of a collaborative group of clinicians and nurses who share knowledge, back each other up in emergencies and place real emphasis on doing the best for every patient. The rota is structured to keep on-call fair and to ensure you have protected time off after busy periods, supporting a sustainable approach to mixed practice.
In this mixed role, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out farm visits for fertility work, routine herd health, calvings, lambings and emergency calls
- Providing preventative care and advisory services to farming clients to support long-term herd and flock health
- Managing small animal consultations, routine procedures and emergency presentations in the hospital setting
- Participating in a shared on-call rota with appropriate time off in lieu following out-of-hours work
Package:
- Permanent, full-time contract with a rota that alternates between earlier and later shifts
- Proportionate on-call duties with protected time back following busy periods
- Standard annual leave allowance topped up with a paid day off for your birthday
- Supportive family-related leave policies and access to wellbeing resources
- Company sick pay and paid compassionate leave for added security and peace of mind
- Annual CPD allowance with paid study days to explore your chosen clinical interests
- Funding options for certificates or further qualifications in either farm, small animal or mixed disciplines
- Payment of key professional memberships including registration and indemnity
- Regular pay reviews, employer pension contributions and access to staff discount schemes
- Opportunities to take part in wider clinical or interest-based groups within the organisation
