Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Vet Tech to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and veterinary practices, demonstrating a commitment to providing high-quality care to our patients. This role requires a blend of technical skills, knowledge of veterinary terminology, and a genuine love for animals.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians in examining and treating animals, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Perform laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, including blood draws and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal patients during surgical procedures and recovery, ensuring vital signs are stable.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Provide education to pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and training techniques.
- Handle animals safely using appropriate restraint techniques to minimize stress.
- Assist with dental cleanings and procedures while utilizing dental terminology effectively.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Participate in the training of new staff members or interns as needed.
Requirements
- Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred; kennel experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices is essential.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and critical care procedures is highly desirable.
- Experience with laboratory work, X-ray procedures, and animal catheterization is beneficial.
- Proficiency in dog handling and animal restraint techniques is required.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
