Gernaat Dairy is looking to hire a full-time Assistant Maintenance Manager to ensure the optimal performance and efficiency of the dairy's parlors, barns, and sand separation systems. The role requires strong technical knowledge, time management, and a team-oriented approach, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.

We offer a competitive hourly wage based on experience, health insurance, paid time off, sick time, company vehicle during work hours and a Sunday – Thursday work schedule with potential additional days as needed and participation in a monthly rotational on-call schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- General Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs on various dairy systems and facilities to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
- System-Specific Duties:
- Parlors: Conduct daily walk-throughs, manage general repairs, and monitor chemical inventory and usage.
- Barns: Maintain and repair alley scrapers, perform structural and equipment repairs, and conduct general welding tasks.
- Sand Separation Systems: Monitor daily performance, perform maintenance and repairs, and move sand piles to facilitate drying.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs and reports of all maintenance performed, materials used, and equipment performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the maintenance manager and other farm staff to prioritize tasks and ensure smooth operation across the farm.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, electrical systems (120V/240V/480V AC), plumbing, hydraulics, and welding.
- Experience: Prior hands-on experience in farm operations or maintenance is beneficial, but not required, with a focus on problem-solving and troubleshooting equipment issues.

- Excellent time management and the ability to set priorities and multitask productively.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and also functioning as a strong team player.

- Physically capable of performing demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
