Farm Manager – Black Stone Point Oyster Farm
Location: Damariscotta River, Maine & Land Based Facility at 27 River Rd, Newcastle Position: Full-Time, Year-Round
Black Stone Point Oyster Farm is seeking a skilled and motivated Farm Manager to lead daily operations on one of Maine’s most respected and innovative oyster farms. Now in our 10th year of farming on the Damariscotta River, we are proud to be Maine’s only B Corp–certified oyster farm, committed to sustainability, community, and exceptional product quality. About the Role
The Farm Manager will oversee and execute all aspects of farm operations, working closely with ownership and leading a tight-knit crew. This role requires deep experience in oyster farming, strong leadership and communication skills, and the practical, hands-on capability to manage equipment, boats, and farm systems on the water.
You’ll be responsible for planning, scheduling, and ensuring high-quality, efficient operations while also working alongside crew on daily farming tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and support farm crew in all aspects of oyster husbandry
- Plan and manage farm operations, including seeding, sorting, grading, maintenance, and harvest schedules
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot farm vessels, floats, pumps, and aquaculture gear
- Ensure safe, efficient, and organized daily workflow on the water and at shore facilities
- Monitor crop performance and contribute to long-term production planning
- Work alongside crew daily in physically demanding marine conditions
- Maintain farm equipment and infrastructure; assist with construction and repair projects
- Participate in data collection, quality control, and B Corp–aligned operational practices
Qualifications
- Significant oyster farming experience required (management-level or lead role preferred) in both bottom and suspended culture farming methods.
- Strong leadership ability, with experience managing teams in outdoor or marine settings
- Highly competent with boats, seamanship, knots, gear systems, and safe vessel operation
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable troubleshooting pumps, engines, and farm equipment
- Ability to work long hours outdoors in all weather conditions
- Organized, reliable, and capable of planning and executing multi-step projects
- Diving experience or certification a plus, but not required (company can provide training and certification)
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and meet physical demands of farm work

Salary & Benefits
Salary Range $60,000 - $75,000 (commensurate with experience)
