Job Description: Our client is seeking an accomplished and people-focused senior clinical leader to take on a pivotal medical director role across a multi-site small animal service. This position is suited to an experienced clinician who enjoys shaping clinical direction, setting high standards of care, and supporting teams to consistently deliver excellent outcomes for patients and clients
This leadership role combines strategic oversight with hands-on clinical involvement, offering the opportunity to influence clinical governance, mentor senior clinicians, and guide service development across hospital and branch settings. Working closely with operational leadership, the position allows genuine autonomy in defining clinical standards, driving improvement initiatives, and fostering a positive, accountable clinical culture.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Setting and maintaining clinical standards across multiple small animal sites
- Providing leadership and mentorship to senior veterinary colleagues and branch leads
- Overseeing clinical governance, quality assurance, and patient safety frameworks
- Supporting service development and identifying opportunities for clinical growth
- Maintaining a personal clinical caseload alongside leadership responsibilities
Qualifications Needed:
- RCVS-eligible veterinary qualification with extensive small animal experience
- Proven background in clinical leadership or senior management roles
- Strong decision-making ability with a focus on governance and best practice
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire and support teams
- Demonstrated commitment to developing people and clinical services
