Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and aseptic techniques to ensure safe and effective treatments.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
- Handle animals with care using proper dog handling, animal husbandry, and animal anatomy knowledge to minimize stress and ensure safety.
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient files, and document treatments accurately in compliance with veterinary standards.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, polishing, and radiography as needed.
Conduct pet care activities including feeding, and monitoring pet behavior to promote comfort and health.
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines while adhering to strict aseptic techniques for patient safety.
- Assist with general animal care tasks to enhance overall pet well-being.
- Support critical care cases involving animals requiring intensive veterinary intervention by applying veterinary critical care experience.
- Handle laboratory samples efficiently while maintaining proper sample collection protocols for accurate testing results.
Experience
- Prior kennel experience or background working with animals in a veterinary or shelter environment is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy to effectively assist in clinical procedures.
- Experience with dog training is a plus for supporting behavioral.
- Hands-on veterinary technician experience involving animal restraint, catheterization, or aseptic techniques is preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures such as blood draws or sample analysis enhances your ability to contribute effectively.
- Equine experience or working with large animals can be advantageous but is not mandatory.
- Strong animal handling skills combined with excellent communication abilities ensure positive interactions with pets and clients alike. Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
