Position: Shellfish Hatchery Technician Full time
Where: Hawaiian Shellfish LLC, located in Hawaiian Paradise Park, Keaau Hawaii
When: Position(s) open until filled
Job Description: The technician will work in a production-based setting to meet the needs of a large shellfish hatchery. Employee will work closely with current technicians, as well as the other hatchery staff. The position will help with all aspects of hatchery work, including general quality control, cleaning tanks, daily observations, and the upkeep of the hatchery and equipment. This is a physically demanding position that will include climbing ladders in and out of large tanks, standing and working on concrete floors, working in a hot and humid environment and being on the go most of the day.
Requirements/ Qualifications:
- Must be able to work independently and in teams
- Must be self-motivated and organized
- Should have good time management skills
- Must be agreeable to work on weekends
- Mandatory 3 month probationary period, followed by review
- Must be able to carry out repetitive tasks
- Should be able to lift 50 lbs without difficulty and be able to work in a physically challenging environment
- Must have good communication skills including working cell phone
- Individual must provide own housing and transportation.
- A science background and general knowledge of shellfish is preferred but not required
