Job Title: Animal Care & Field Services Officer
Position Summary
We are seeking a mature, reliable, and self-motivated individual with strong integrity and a deep passion for animal welfare. The ideal candidate is capable of working independently, handling physically demanding tasks, and performing effectively in both indoor and outdoor environments. This role combines hands-on canine care, property maintenance, public interaction, and administrative responsibilities.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide comprehensive canine general care, including:
- Thorough cleaning and sanitation of kennels and animal areas
- Exercising animals and supporting daily enrichment activities
- Administration of medications as directed
- Grooming and hygiene care
- Monitoring nutrition and feeding schedules
- Maintaining appropriate housing and environmental conditions
- Supporting behavioral training and positive reinforcement practices
- Perform duties in both indoor and outdoor environments, often involving physical labor
- Assist with animal transportation and recovery as required
- Support property management, including minor repairs and general maintenance
- Assist with construction-related tasks and operation of mechanical equipment when needed
- Maintain biosecurity and workplace safety standards
- Interact professionally with the general public and law enforcement personnel
- Complete basic office and record-keeping duties
Required Qualifications & Attributes
- High level of integrity, maturity, reliability, and punctuality
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and under pressure
- Flexible availability and willingness to adapt to changing schedules
- Physically capable of performing demanding tasks
- Valid driver’s license with reliable personal transportation
- Comfortable working with animals, the public, and law enforcement
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset:
- Animal husbandry or animal care
- Veterinary clinic or hospital environments
- Kennel or shelter management
- Farm or property maintenance
- Animal behavior, recovery, or defensive handling
- Biosecurity practices
- Construction or mechanical equipment operation
- Animal by-law enforcement, peace officer, or public relations roles
- Basic office and administrative skills
Compensation
- Wage: Negotiable, $18–$24 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
