WORK SCHEDULE : Minimum of 40 hours per week; schedule will be determined by Farm Manager.

Assistant Farm Manager to join our team in
Coachella, CA.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Farm Manager is to support the Farm Manager in all growing operations of our crops. This hands-on position assists and/or manages all aspects of growing high-quality produce timely at a reasonable cost, as well as meets the required specifications as communicated by the Farm Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Farm Manager in leading and directing employees and contract laborers in the field.
- Assist in the planting, growing, and harvesting of various crops.
- Help with field scouting, fertigation, and overseeing crop protection applications.
- Coordinate with internal and external resources on fertilizer and crop inputs.
- Determine timing and coordination of fertilization, irrigation, and spraying of crops.
- Monitor moisture levels and assist with irrigation.
- Ensure compliance with food safety handling procedures, OSHA, and GAP.
- Perform timely completion of records on the crops including types of fertilizer used, sprays, pesticides applied, varieties, inventories and irrigation schedules.
- Assist with on-farm crop trials, and all other aspects of the growing operations.
- Perform other duties as requested by Farm Manager.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Some experience in farming and growing.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Crop Health, or related field.
- PCA (Pest Control Advisor) preferred, or willingness to obtain license.
- Knowledgeable in irrigation methods, farm equipment operations and general maintenance.
- (Preferred but not required) the ability to drive a tractor with various implements.
- A valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record at all times.
- Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Strong computer skills; knowledge of MS Office.
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours during peak season, including nights.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee is occasionally exposed to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold or heat.
