Client
Our client is an industry leader in Barramundi Aquaculture located in Bowen in the beautiful Whitsundays. The business is a fully integrated Barramundi farm with their own own Breeding Facility, Hatchery and Nursery Rearing Facility, Growout Intensive Raceway System and HACCP approved Processing Facility. They are an Australian owned company and have been farming Barramundi successfully for 25 years. They now have an opening for the position of Assistant Farm Manager within the leadership team.
Role
This role would assist the management of the day-to-day operation in order to meet production goals and provide effective leadership to the team. It would oversee the core activities such as harvesting, feeding and disease management.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Management of day-to-day production operations.
- Report to and collaborate with the Growout Manager to meet production goals.
- Provide strong leadership to your team, which includes a supervisor, leading hands, senior technicians and farm hands.
- Complete and oversee activities such as fish harvesting, feeding, and disease management.
- Collect farm data to enhance production methods and foster innovation.
- Cultivate a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Organizing workflow and planning for your team.
- Support and mentor team members, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Fulfill after hours, on-call duties as required on a shared rostered basis (approximately 1 week per 3 weeks).
Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in Aquaculture Management (preferred but not essential).
- Comprehensive knowledge of farming practices and experience in a similar role.
- Proven track record of leading small teams in a safety-first environment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
- Strong coaching capabilities to empower staff and foster teamwork.
- Proficiency in farm management software, data entry and strong computer literacy.
Remuneration and Location
This is a senior management role within the Company, with an appropriate remuneration package. Free onsite accommodation is available with this position for suitable candidates. Location is Bowen, North QLD.
