Island Tides Veterinary Hospital is an established family owned small animal practice committed to high-quality medicine, thoughtful client care, and a respectful, well-run workplace. We are excited to introduce a Practice Manager role, an opportunity to help shape the systems, culture, and long-term success of our growing hospital.
This role is ideal for an experienced manager who values clear expectations, professional boundaries, and strong team culture, and who understands that excellent patient care depends on both people and processes working well together.
The Role
The Practice Manager works closely with the practice owners and leadership team to oversee daily operations, human resources, and client experience. This is a visible, client-facing role that supports positive client relationships while also addressing concerns or disputes calmly and professionally. Internally, the Practice Manager provides structure, consistency, and accountability across the team.
Key areas of responsibility include HR management, staff onboarding and performance reviews, conflict resolution, scheduling oversight, payroll and time-clock management, some financial and operational reporting, and supporting systems such as SOPs, employee policies, and practice software. The Manager must also be familiar with CVBC and CVMA requirements for veterinary practices. The Manager acts as a professional liaison between staff, leadership, and clients, helping maintain a respectful, collaborative workplace.
Who We’re Looking For
- Proven management experience (healthcare or veterinary experience an asset)
- Strong HR knowledge and confidence handling sensitive situations
- Calm, fair, and professional leadership style
- Highly organized, systems-focused, and detail-oriented
- Excellent communication skills with staff and clients
- Willingness to learn the unique demands of veterinary practice management
