Position Summary
As a Bioanalytical Scientist within Research and Breakthrough Innovation, you will support Elanco’s Large Molecule Assay Development team through the development, validation, and execution of ligand-binding assays (LBAs). This laboratory-based role focuses on generating high-quality bioanalytical data to support preclinical and clinical programs involving monoclonal antibodies and other protein therapeutics. You will work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment and play a key role in advancing innovative animal health solutions.
Your Responsibilities
Design, develop, optimize, and validate ligand-binding assays (ELISA, MSD, Gyros) for quantification of monoclonal antibodies and other protein therapeutics in biological matrices
Execute fit-for-purpose bioanalytical methods in accordance with internal SOPs and global regulatory guidelines, evaluating accuracy, precision, selectivity, sensitivity, and stability
Analyze preclinical and clinical study samples and deliver high-quality, reliable data to project teams
Characterize, conjugate, and manage critical assay reagents to ensure long-term consistency and performance
Independently troubleshoot assay challenges and evaluate new technologies to improve sensitivity, throughput, and robustness
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
Education:
Ph.D. in Immunology, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related discipline, or
M.S. with 3+ years of relevant industry experience, or
B.S. with 5+ years of relevant industry experience
Demonstrated hands-on experience developing, validating, and executing ligand-binding assays
Strong understanding of pharmacokinetics principles for biologic therapeutics
Proficiency with immunoassay platforms, with ELISA experience required
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience with advanced immunoassay platforms such as MSD, Gyros, or Quanterix
Experience developing and validating immunogenicity (ADA) assays
Familiarity with cell-based neutralizing antibody (NAb) assays
Strong data analysis skills and experience with bioanalytical software tools (e.g., SoftMax Pro, Benchling)
Demonstrated scientific rigor, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail
