Hatchery & Nursery Technician (Up to 12 Month contract with the possibility of an extension)

Hatchery technician(s) will participate in daily husbandry of shellfish including:
- Larval and Juvenile rearing
- Broodstock maintenance and spawning
- Nursery husbandry (2nd site location)
- Record Keeping
- Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development
- Tank cleaning and disinfection
- Support for Research projects
Rotational after-hours & weekend work will be required seasonally and are scheduled amongst the team.
Essential Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of shellfish biology
- Experience with animal husbandry (fish or shellfish considered an asset)
- Proficient in Word and Excel
- Attention to detail
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Must have own transportation including for travel between sites
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- This positions requires long periods of standing and being on your feet
Additional Qualifications
- Degree or college diploma in Aquaculture or a biology-related area
- Experience in Microscopy and/or Algal culture
- Experience with Aquaculture Systems and/or Water Quality Monitoring Equipment
