Job Description: Our client is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Surgeon Specialist Veterinarian to deliver advanced surgical care within a referral-based small animal setting. This role is designed for a surgeon who values high clinical standards, predictable scheduling, and the ability to focus exclusively on specialty-level surgery without emergency or on-call responsibilities.
The position supports a consultative surgical model, working closely with referring veterinarians to manage complex soft tissue and orthopaedic cases while maintaining continuity of care through clear communication and structured follow-up. The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of specialty services as demand continues to grow.
This position may also suit a surgeon with an interest in mentorship, allowing involvement in teaching, case discussion, and skills development for other clinicians, while maintaining autonomy over clinical focus and workload.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Performing advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical procedures on an outpatient basis
- Providing surgical consultations for internal and external referral cases
- Collaborating with primary care and urgent care clinicians to support long-term case outcomes
- Supporting post-operative planning and follow-up communication
- Participating in clinical teaching and knowledge-sharing initiatives as desired
Qualifications Needed:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent qualification
- Board certification or residency training in veterinary surgery
- Eligibility for state licensure in New Jersey
- Strong experience managing complex surgical cases independently
- Clear communication skills for collaboration with referring veterinarians
