Maintenance Mechanical - Southport, NC
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Mechanic is a key member of the maintenance team, responsible for supporting plant-wide maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and optimal functionality. This role requires hands-on work with critical equipment and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all applicable Safety and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The position demands flexibility to provide 24/7 support when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience required.
- A technical degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in mechanical diagnosis and repair. o Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings, user manuals, and computerized data archives.
- Computer Skills:
- Basic competency in office applications such as MS Office. o Ability to learn and utilize maintenance support systems like Maximo with minimal training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment breakdowns to restore operations efficiently.
- Perform preventive maintenance on both new and existing equipment and assist in developing maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with fellow mechanics and technicians to complete tasks as needed.
- Work with maintenance support and stockroom personnel to ensure proper documentation of parts transactions.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) teams to identify and resolve equipment failures.
- Assist in the checkout and startup of new equipment.
- Contribute to plant reliability initiatives to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs, lift heavy objects, sit or stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, and work at heights.
- Must be respirator-qualified and capable of working in all environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and dusty environments.
- Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and on-call schedules as required.
