Service Technician (Mobile and In Shop)
Ellens Equipment Inc is a family owned, agricultural, construction and landscaping equipment dealer. The company offers equipment repair services, parts and sales of several different types of equipment from a variety of manufacturers. Ellens Equipment is looking or a personable, reliable and hardworking member to join our service team, repairing agricultural and construction equipment including Bobcat, Develon, New Holland and more. As a service technician, your job duties would include but are not limited to:
- Service Diagnostics: Performs basic / complex diagnostics on agricultural / construction / diesel equipment, determining what repairs are needed and/or recommended for future attention / maintenance. This can be for either customer-owned equipment located at the shop or at customer’s site, or dealer-owned equipment (inspections).
- Service Repairs: Performs repairs on above equipment (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, diesel) as requested by manager. Accountable for performing quality work and attaining stated goals for efficiency.
- Service Training / Development: Participates in all requested job-related training and development, as well as taking an active interest in improving skills with other training programs.
- Service Paperwork: Completes all reports and forms for service operations in a timely and accurate manner. This would include inspection reports, warranty comments, work orders, etc. Uses CNH Assist as appropriate. Uses computers / tablets for data entry as required. Ensure manager is aware of any issues / surprises which can impact customer billing or satisfaction. Ensures accurate timekeeping for job costing.
- Equipment and Tools: Apply and use hand, power, and pneumatic tools properly. Maintains good condition and cleanliness of company vehicles inventory, tools, and equipment, including return of tools to storage areas.
- Safety: Follows all company and common-sense safety policies, while using all required personal safety equipment. Ensures a safe work environment in his bay; reports any issues in bay or other service work areas to manager for followup.
- Teamwork: Works collaboratively with other technicians, parts, and sales personnel. Mentors Service Technician Apprentices and junior Technicians as able. Works afterhours (daily or weekend) as required.
- Communications: Communicate directly with equipment owners, operators, and management. Ensures good communication with other employees. Communicates appropriately with customers, and conveys any operational issues to manager.
Qualifications and skills
- Proven knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of Ag Construction / Outdoor power equipment • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Ability to work extended hours during the week and on weekends, when needed
- Individual must be self-motivated and organized
- Basic Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Excellent skills in operating vehicles and equipment used in service shops (diagnostic equipment, forklifts, hydraulic lifts, etc.)
- Should have basic welding experience
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines a definite plus
- Air conditioning repair and service knowledge beneficial
Experience: Construction/Heavy Equipment and/or Agriculture Equipment Repair: 2+ years (Required)

Competency: The position requires experience with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems. The ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics. Strong work ethic and a high level of integrity. Great attention to detail and a sound problem-solving ability.
Education: High school diploma. Technical training also beneficial
Physical Requirements: Must be able to safely operate equipment, mount and dismount equipment, safely hook-up, secure and transport equipment. Periods of extensive sitting, standing and squatting are routinely required. Must be able to lift 80+ pounds.
