Overview
We are a privately owned clinic seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician with surgical experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with the necessary skills to assist our veterinarians in surgery, and in providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animals. This role is vital in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients while also supporting pet owners through education and guidance.
Duties :
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
- Administer and monitor anesthesia
- Perform dental cleanings , including radiographs and nerve blocks.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care, providing necessary support and comfort.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry, nutrition, and training techniques.
- Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with the team and clients.
- Provide animal restraint during examinations and procedures to ensure safety for both the animals and staff.
- Participate in kennel management duties, including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment for all animals.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Surgical Technician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Dentistry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures is essential.
- Skills in animal husbandry, dog training, equine care, and veterinary critical care are highly desirable.
- Ability to handle various types of animals with compassion and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate pet owners about their pets' needs.
- Must be able to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent is preferred.
