Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Business & Data Analyst to lead the analysis, design, and lifecycle development of data products within the IT Data Domain. In this role, you will partner closely with Product Owners, Data Engineers, Domain SMEs, and stakeholders across the organization to define how data should be structured, transformed, and delivered to create value.
You will analyze complex IT operational and service‑management datasets, design transformation logic, and articulate data requirements that pipeline engineers implement using DBT and modern data stacks. You will also act as a senior voice in the domain—challenging assumptions, influencing design decisions, shaping data standards, and championing high‑quality, meaningful data.
The ideal candidate blends strong analytical depth, data modeling skills, domain expertise, and leadership behaviors such as strategic thinking, active listening, challenging the status quo, and articulating data value clearly.
What will you do in this role
Data Product Analysis & DesignLead the analysis and definition of data products across the IT Data Domain, shaping product scope, critical data elements, and business rules.
Translate domain needs into clear data models, semantic definitions, and transformation logic consumed by data pipeline engineers (DBT), design and built prototypes proving the value prior the industrialization.
Analyze source systems and upstream IT process data (ITSM, IT Operations, Monitoring, CMDB, etc.) to determine feasibility, linkage, grain, and relationships.
Create detailed logic specifications, including join rules, derivations, filters, and quality expectations.
- Ensure data models meet business objectives around availability, reliability, observability, and usability.
Data Domain Ownership & Standards- Act as a senior steward of the IT Data Domain—ensuring definitions, business terms, lineage, and transformations are consistent and understandable.
- Contribute to data product governance, metadata quality, and domain‑level documentation aligned with modern SDLC and DQ practices.
- Facilitate alignment on domain conventions, data design decisions, and prioritization across teams.
Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Leadership- Engage business and technical stakeholders to elicit, refine, and challenge requirements for new and existing data products.
- Communicate complex data concepts in clear, structured ways to senior leadership and operational teams.
- Rationalize competing requirements, highlight trade‑offs, and propose MVP vs. iterative enhancements.
- Lead requirements grooming, user story definition, acceptance criteria, and refinement sessions.
Senior Analytical Expertise- Explore and interpret operational, service management, monitoring, and lifecycle data to uncover insights and inform product design.
- Validate data quality and completeness, identify anomalies, and proactively recommend improvements.
- Apply strong SQL and data‑preparation expertise to design transformation prototypes and assess data readiness.
Collaboration With Data Engineers & IT Teams·Work closely with engineers to ensure transformation logic is fully understood, testable, and implementable using DBT.·Participate in schema evolution, testing cycles, and design reviews to ensure alignment between analysis and implementation.·Support efficient query design, performance optimization, and architectural considerations for large‑scale IT data.
Leadership & Influence·Influence decisions across the IT Data Domain using data‑driven reasoning and domain expertise.·Challenge the status quo by proposing modern, scalable approaches to modeling, data productization, and transformation.·Actively listen, build strong relationships, and promote a shared understanding of data’s business value.·Mentor analysts and partner teams on best practices for data modeling, requirements, and product thinking.
What you should have :Core Experience·4-8 years in analytics, business/data analysis, or data product‑related roles.·Strong experience with IT Service Management, IT Operations processes as well as CMDB concepts.·Proven record designing datasets, crafting transformation logic, and working with modern data platforms (SQL, data warehouses, or similar).·Strong understanding of data modeling, data lineage, and semantic layer concepts.
Technical Skills·Advanced SQL and experience with data querying, analysing transforming and restructuring at scale·Experience collaborating with engineering teams implementing pipelines (DBT, ETL tools, or similar).·Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Spotfire, etc.) and their data‑shaping requirements.·Understanding of SDLC, data governance practices, and metadata management.
Leadership Behaviors- Strong influencing skills and ability to rationalize proposed designs or prototypes.
- Active listener who can balance stakeholder needs and challenge assumptions constructively.
- Clear and compelling communicator with the ability to articulate the business value of data.
- Ability to shape requirements, lead workshops, and guide teams toward high‑quality analytical outcomes.
Nice to Have- Experience with ITIL processes or enterprise IT data flows.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, feature readiness, and data observability practices.
