Treasure Valley Veterinary Services is looking for a Full Time Veterinarian Technician to join our growing team! We are a mixed animal practice seeing both small and large animals. We are currently a 2-doctor practice that is constantly striving to improve and grow the company. We are looking for someone who has experience with both dogs and cats as well as with horses and cattle, preferably, someone with at least 3 years in the veterinary industry!
The Veterinarian Technician position requires someone who is highly organized, thrives working as a team, has great attention to detail, cares deeply about pets and possesses wonderful customer service skills. Some specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Our Veterinarian Technician Position Consists of the Following Duties:
- First and foremost, adhering to what the doctor needs and assisting during appointments or procedures.
- Preparing and administering medications (oral and injectable) and completing specific treatments for each patient as directed by the doctors.
- Assist with admission of new patients by taking them to the treatment room and setting up kennels.
- Prepare animal for surgery, performs pre and post-surgical observations of animals and reports condition changes.
- Performing general patient husbandry by preparing food, taking patients out for walks, and bathing as needed.
- Daily house keeping of clinic including re-stocking and cleaning tasks.
- Work half days on Saturdays as well as take care of boarding animals on the weekends
- Answering phones on occasion
- Learning AVIMark (Computer Program) to check patients in and charge clients out
Qualified Candidates Must Be Able To or Be Willing to Learn:
- Have working knowledge of dog/cat behavior as well as horse/cattle behavior
- The willingness and ability to adhere to strict policies regarding cleanliness, dog/cats/cattle/horses/employee safety and client service.
- Multi-task in an always changing work environment
- Maintain a high level of organization and communication
- Provide consistent quality customer service to every client and patient
- Work independently
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of humane methods of care, restraint and handling of animals and the techniques used in the care and feeding of animals
- Knowledge of veterinary medical and surgical practices and procedures
- Ability to handle and restrain large and small animals
- Adapt to new and constantly changing situations and environments
- Ability to lift animals onto a table
- Skill in operating medical equipment
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, the general public, etc. enough to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift approximately 50-60 lbs.
- Must be able to do strenuous activity for long periods of time (sitting, crouching, walking, etc.).
- Very detail oriented.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work weekends
- Preferably at least 3 years of experience.
